Who this covers

Squad is an app that lets a parent ("Squad Leader") post jobs — such as rides, babysitting, errands, household chores, and pet care — to an approved roster of helpers ("Squad Members"). A simple companion view ("Child") lets a child see the driver assigned to their ride. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

Information we collect

From Squad Leaders: name, email, optional profile photo, home address and any saved addresses you add, the squad, children, and pets you set up, and the job details you post (including addresses, notes, shopping-list items, and the compensation you offer).

From Squad Members: name, email, phone number, month and year of birth (used to display your age to the Squad Leaders whose squads you join), an age confirmation that you are at least 13, an optional profile photo, the job categories you offer, your preferred payment method and handle (for example a Venmo username), your vehicle's make, model, and color if you drive, and your preference about being introduced to other squads. We also record job activity — which jobs you view, accept, decline, complete, or cancel — and the posting Leader can see the delivery status of their own jobs.

For Children: a parent creates and controls the child's account. We collect a first name, an optional notes field the parent may fill in (for example allergies or bedtime), and simple sign-in credentials (a username and PIN that the parent can view and manage). We do not collect a photo of the child or any other personal details about them.

For Pets: pet type, name, breed, and any care instructions the Leader adds.

Automatically: a device push-notification token so we can alert you to jobs and squad activity, and basic crash and error reports (device model, operating system version, and what went wrong) so we can fix problems.

We do not collect GPS or background location. Addresses are only the text a Leader types or saves.

How we use information

• To run the core service: posting jobs, notifying eligible Squad Members, recording who accepts, and showing Leaders activity for their own squad.
• To show a Child the name, photo, and car of the driver for their accepted ride.
• To send job-related and squad-related push notifications.
• To send service emails (such as help finishing your account setup) to the email address you provide.
• To diagnose and fix crashes and errors.

We do not process payments. The payment method and handle a Member provides are stored only so a Leader knows how the Member wishes to be paid; any actual payment happens outside the app.

How information is shared

• Within your squad. A Leader can see their Members' profile details (photo, age, phone number, job categories, car, payment handle) and job activity. Members see the job details a Leader posts and basic family details (such as children's first names and pets) needed to do the job.
• Squad introductions ("Squad Share"). Only if a Member has chosen to allow introductions, their Leader may share the Member's profile with another Leader. The Member individually confirms before joining any new squad, and their phone number is revealed to the new Leader only after both the new Leader and the Member have said yes.
• A Child sees the driver's name, photo, and car for their accepted ride — nothing more.
• We do not sell personal information or share it with advertisers.
• We use service providers to operate the app — hosting and database (Supabase), push notification delivery (Expo), crash reporting (Sentry), and email delivery (Resend) — and may share information where required by law.

Children's privacy

Squad Members must confirm they are at least 13 years old; accounts cannot be created without this confirmation. Child accounts are created and controlled by a parent, who provides consent, and are limited to the minimal information described above. If you believe a child's information has been collected improperly, contact us at hello@your-squad-app.com and we will delete it.

Data retention and deletion

We keep information for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal information at any time by contacting hello@your-squad-app.com. Job history may be retained in de-identified form for a squad's statistics.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and database-level access controls that limit each person's data to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe.

Your choices

• Edit or remove your profile photo, phone, payment details, vehicle information, addresses, and your introductions preference at any time in the app.
• Turn off push notifications in your device settings.
• Request access to or deletion of your data via hello@your-squad-app.com.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will post the new effective date here and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
